Hacking Begins!
Hello!
Ready… Set… Go! Hacking has now officially begun! Make sure everyone in your team has signed in to receive their deposit and that you have selected a team name: https://forms.gle/rNftYzs3B4S4iywi7
The Google Drive folder keeping the previously *secret* information is now LIVE! Add yourself through this link to access the Guidelines for Participants, which reveals the details of the challenges and is incredibly useful, as well as the Teachers’ Manual Template and the Jamaican Curriculum: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1TGakIqQ5gBLKvTgMYYU48JG54feTq9-C?usp=sharing
Remember, your project proposal or initial pitch is due at 7pm. Your pitch should be 5min, and can take any format you’d like (slides or otherwise). The link for the Zoom meeting room can be found in the Discord and on the schedule. The Doodle Form on which you can choose the time of your LIVE pitch with our super mentors is here: https://doodle.com/poll/827yzw2ngh6kieqr?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link. Every team MUST fill this out by 6pm, and make sure only one person per team signs up!
Coming up later today, as indicated by the schedule featured in the Hackathon google drive folder and on the Discord, we have two workshops:
First, at 2pm EST, there will be a workshop by Liz Saville, a teacher educator who holds expertise in creating STEM lessons that encourage critical and creative thinking. This workshop will be on creating teaching materials, and will be incredibly useful for when you put together the Teachers’ Manual for your experiment. At 4pm, there will be a workshop by Leo Mui, a member of the Pueblo Science Advisory board, an entrepreneur, a coordinator for an innovation center, and an entrepreneurship educator. This workshop will assist you and your team in developing a project proposal for 7pm.
Please make sure that at least one member from your team attends each of these workshops, and remember the same zoom link will be used for all gatherings. For any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out via Discord. There are also channels on the Discord corresponding to the workshops for any discussion.
Remember that mentors are available from 12pm-10pm! Make sure to request at least 2 help sessions with mentors through the Discord.
Best,
Pueblo Science Team
