Hackathon Day 2!
Hello hackers!
After a successful day of hacking yesterday, you’ve all made it to Day 2! Remember that mentors will be available from 12pm-10pm EST (9am-7pm PST) today via Discord. The Discord system has been updated: instead of filing a ticket, you now have a premade private channel with all your group members and all the mentors + staff. You can now ask questions to mentors directly here or arrange meetings by using @mentor or @supermentor! After your Project Proposal Pitches, you likely have a lot of feedback from the Supermentors to ruminate over. We encourage you to tag them for a longer, untimed discussion about your ideas today!
If your team was asked to do a second pitch, please make sure you sign up for a time (starting at 3pm EST) here: https://doodle.com/poll/apv8tivx3yi5qdc8?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link. These pitches will again occur by the same Zoom link; make sure your team hops on two minutes ahead of your allotted time! It is recommended you get some mentor help before this presentation.
Additionally, please make sure to set up and publish a Devpost project page for your team! We noticed some overlap in projects yesterday, so try to add a sentence or two describing your project. Remember that you can edit a page you published infinitely until the deadline on Sept 26th at 10am EST (7am PST). On that note, remember to publish some Updates on your devpost page! These will contribute to the “Most Active Team” award, in addition to photo submissions (worth 2x the points) to our Google Photos Album here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JPLNo6xnKeL1pBv56.
Our first workshop today will start off the day at 12pm EST (9am PST): the topic will be on mindfulness and features guest speaker Kim Salvador, a Community Program Coordinator at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies where she develops and delivers mindfulness-based programming to marginalized communities across the city of Toronto and beyond. Our second workshop will take place at 5pm EST (2pm PST) and will be on designing a presentation & video to prepare you for your final project submissions & presentations! This workshop will be held by Grace Ling, a Designer at Electronic Arts and the Founder & Design Lead of the Design Buddies community (27K+ members, largest global design community). Both workshops will occur on Zoom using the usual link: https://utoronto.zoom.us/j/88580788473 (Passcode: pueblo).
In the evening, we will be having our first game night at 8pm EST (5pm PST)! More details to come via the Discord.
Best,
Pueblo Science Team
